House Kloppers

Location: Elisenheim, Namibia

Client: Mr. Kloppers

Nestled within the valleys of the Elisenheim lifestyle estate, this design home brings to the city dweller every positive aura nature has to offer. Walled-in only by the splendid views of the surrounding hills during the day and the cosmic landscape at night, the home pursues to exist in harmony with all the serene elements of nature estate living.

Quality of both materials and space defining elements enhances all the senses, and contributes to a tranquil experience of a contemporary lifestyle. This sensory notion also formed the basis of the design, with strong architectural denotations to the surrounding context.

A set of living spaces are carefully arranged so as to keep a strong visual relationship with the street edge. The approach to the house elevates one on a series of platform steps, announcing key views of the surrounding area at intervals. Raised living areas are open plan with a double volume roof space, to allow for maximum natural light and a future loft space. Internal and external spaces flow within one another making optimum usage of effective circulation and cross ventilation. All secluded spaces are envisioned to have framed views of the landscape while maintaining privacy. Living spaces are complimented with an optional pool that forms part of an entertainment deck.

The design ensures an interdependent relationship between the natural environment and the built structures, whilst adding a poetic dimension to country- style living.
